Haston Library Hosts Rick Winston as he explores Vermont History

  • Franklin Town Hall at Haston Library 5167 Main Street Franklin, VT 05457 USA (map)

Rick Winston, author of the recently published Red Scare in the Green Mountains: Vermont in the McCarthy Era, as he explores some forgotten Vermont history. Winston will explain how a small, rural “rock-ribbed Republican” state with a historically libertarian streak handled the rabid anti-Communist hysteria of the 1950s.  This talk is free, open to the public, and accessible to those with disabilities.

Red Scare in the Green Mountains: Vermont in the McCarthy Era is a Vermont Humanities program hosted by the Haston Library. (Supported in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Any views, findings, conclusions, or recommendations expressed in this program do not necessarily represent those of the NEH or Vermont Humanities.)
