Reuben Jackson: Celebration of Life

Celebrate the life and legacy of the influential Vermonter and radio legend Reuben Jackson with shared poetry, music, and stories. Speakers and performers include Rajnii Eddins, Toussaint St. Negritude, Ras Moshe Burnett Trio, Otto Muller, Dov Michael Schiller Band, LN Bethea, Mary Elder Jacobsen, and George Thomas. Light refreshments will be provided.

This will also be the official launch of his book, My Specific Awe and Wonder, published by Rootstock Publishing. All proceeds from the book will benefit a scholarship in Jackson’s name at the University of the District Columbia for students interested in poetry and/or jazz.

The event is hosted by Catamount Arts, Vermont Humanities, and the Vermont Arts Council. Click here for more information and to RSVP. The event is free and open to the public and will also contain a fundraiser for The Reuben Jackson Poetry Prize at Howard University, administered by the Academy of American Poets and will be the second AAP College Prize at an Historically Black College or University (HBCU).
