Amy Allen
Amy Allen (she/her) studied English literature with a focus in creative writing as an undergraduate at Skidmore College, and was lucky enough to participate in a fiction writing workshop as part of her coursework for a PhD in English literature from Drew University. She has taken part in the Green Mountain Writers Conference led by Yvonne Daley, as well as Middlebury College’s Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference in Erice, Sicily.
In 2019, after working in education both as an English teacher and school administrator, she stepped away to start her own freelance writing/editing and college advising business, called All of the Write Words.
This career change allowed her the time to work on her poetry, and her work has been published in a wide variety of journals including Pine Row Press, West Trade Review, Atlanta Review, The Write Launch, Fauxmoir Lit Mag, and The Moving Force Journal. Additionally, her article on how to craft a polished college essay has been published by the Harvard Business Review. She serves as the Poet Laureate for the town of Shelburne.
Amy loves spending time outdoors in Vermont, and these experiences inform a great deal of her written work. She lives in Shelburne, Vermont, with her husband and children along with a profoundly independent husky and a perpetually starving chocolate lab.
