What Should I Put On My Author Website?
A lot of new authors ask us what they should put on their author website. Here is a handy list from Ingram Spark, with our helpful tips:
1. Author Bio - this can be in third person or first person, depending on the tone of your website. List any writing achievements, degrees, other books, etc.
2. Books - links to purchase your books along with book covers, blurbs, and description.
3. Mailing List Signup - capture those website visitors!
4. Blog - optional, this is where you can write about your writing process, inside info about your book, etc.
5. Contact - include a form or make your public author email available so people can contact you to schedule an author talk or connect with you as an author.
6. Media Page - this is where you list out the reviews and newspapers that write about your book.
7. Events - a calendar of where you will be speaking or giving readings/signings. You could also substitute the Blog or Media page with your Events page.
You may also want to list out any organizations to which you belong as a member, and be sure to make your website visually appealing. Research other author websites and mimic the designs you most admire.
We also recommend you secure your domain name as your Author Name, rather than a Book Title, since you may write more books, and so you will will to build your Author Brand, rather than just a single book brand, with your website.
