‘It Was Her New York’ is a BookLife Prize Quarterfinalist!

Congratulations to C.O. Moed, whose much lauded memoir, It Was Her New York: True Stories & Snapshots, was selected as a quarterfinalist for the BookLife Prize! She was among the winners in the Memoir / Autobiography category of the 2024 nonfiction contest.

The judges awarded her book a ten rating, the highest score. “The structure of this memoir feels almost cinematic, as Moed orchestrates the beauty in Florence’s smallest moments against the backdrop of her mental and physical deterioration. … Beyond a skillful capturing of Florence’s moxie in the everyday happenings of life, Moed manages to champion the causes that unite her and her mother, from gay rights to music’s ability to breathe life into the most stagnant of situations.”
