Discovery: A Reading and Workshop Exploring Wonder Through Poetry
Scudder Parker, author of Safe as Lightning, will lead a workshop on the common, but sometimes marginalized, experience of Wonder, using poetry to explore, share and initiate discussion about those moments of opening that show us who we really are and how the world could be.
The workshop will open with a series of poems that explore a spiritual opening in my life, and how it was shaped by my religious tradition. The session will then invite participants to share—through poems (or prose) you bring or have written—moments of opening about experiences in your own life. There will be time for response, reflection, and conversation. The heart of the workshop will be exploring the question: How do these glimpses of wonder become knowledge that helps us live our lives; and how does poetry help this happen?
Free and open to the public. A PoemCity 2023 Event.
