J. Peter Cobb
J. Peter Cobb is the author of two novels: To Alice (TouchPoint Press, 2022), about boundary issues faced by hospice and home care workers; and Some Things Aren’t Meant to Be (forthcoming 2024), the story of John Gauthier, a man at the center of two love triangles who seeks a purpose-driven life and becomes a Roman Catholic priest. As a priest he struggles with a his faith and questions: If God is just, why do bad things happen to good people?
In 2016, Cobb retired from a long career as director of the VNAs of Vermont, the trade association that represents Vermont’s Visiting Nurse Associations. He has been a reporter, grant writer, lobbyist, and mental health worker. He coached middle school soccer for twenty-five years, sixteen with girls and nine with boys.
Currently he is a correspondent for the Barre-Montpelier Times Argus and the Rutland Herald, a volunteer driver for the Vermont Association for the Blind and Disabled, and a volunteer teacher for Vermont Adult Basic Education.
Cobb graduated from Rutland High School in Vermont in 1969. He has a BA in Political Science from the University of Vermont and a Master’s in Special Education from Johnson State College which is now Vermont State University.
He enjoys hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, biking and photography. He lives in Barre Town, Vermont, with his wife Cindy. He has two daughters and seven grandchildren.
