Montpelier, Vt. – In a virtual ceremony on June 3rd, author Ed Griffin-Nolan of Pompey, New York, received a silver medal “IPPY” award for his book Nobody Hitchhikes Anymore, in the Travel-Essay category of the 25th Annual Independent Publisher Book Awards.

According to the Jenkins Group and IndependentPublisher.com, this year’s contest drew over 4,500 entries, with 430 gold, silver and bronze medals given to independent authors and publishers from 46 U.S. states and seven Canadian provinces, with winners also coming from U.K. and Australia, plus New Zealand, Ireland, France, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Switzerland, Jamaica, and Malawi.

“Enchantment is what we hope for, every time we crack the cover of a new book," says Jim Barnes, director of the IPPY Awards. “Each new book you open offers the promise of magic, and maybe even a life-changing moment.,” he said.

“The best part about winning the IPPY has been having the chance to engage with so many readers telling me their stories of the road and how the story of Nobody Hitchhikes Anymore touched them,” said author Griffin-Nolan.

In Nobody Hitchhikes Anymore “a former journalist sets out to re-experience the hitchhiking adventures of his past in this absorbing travel memoir,” wrote Kirkus in a starred review. They called it: “sharply observant, contemplative writing that captures the buzz of hitchhiking.”

Published by Rootstock Publishing of Montpelier, Vermont in September 2020, the book is available for purchase at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Bookshop, IndieBound, and other book retailers.
