SYNOPSIS
Stay until Tomorrow by Meghan A. Patricia Wentworth is a debut collection of autobiographical poems shedding light on trauma, heartache, love, loss, and the poet’s self-healing journey. These poems are skeletons that can no longer be kept in the closet; they are secrets come to life; they are a bright light shining in the face of the abuser. They are about breaking down to come back anew; about reconciling the dark past with a hopeful future. In “This House,” the poet writes:
This was the house of my dreams
…
Where I returned in the middle of the night
…
after the assault that cracked my foundation
....
This is where I had to say goodbye
Where I must begin to build
myself from the ground up.
Writing these poems helped the poet heal from PTSD, anxiety, and depression. In sharing them, she hopes readers will find comfort and validation, and the belief that things can get better.
Praise
“Stay until Tomorrow is a debut book full of courage, resilience, insight, and the poet's deep capacity for love. These poems, conversational in nature, are profoundly healing for survivors and shine necessary light into the dark places.”
—Diana Whitney, poet, editor, and author of Dark Beds
______________________
“Meghan Wentworth’s poetry is poignant and evocative, exploring themes of growth and connection, the pull between self-reliance and dependence, and survival in the face of trauma and loss. I found myself immersed in the raw honesty of poems such as ‘Secret Garden,’ ‘Peirce Island,’ and ‘Him.’ Wentworth’s verse invites all readers to inhabit profoundly personal spaces of memory, isolation, and confrontation, thereby sparking reflection on how we process our own similar life challenges.”
—Emily M. Hinnov, PhD, professor of English and program coordinator at Great Bay Community College and editor-in-chief of The Heron
